Morgan Myles~ Q & A!!!

1.     Hi Morgan, can you tell me a little bit about yourself before you became a country singer?

I was born and raised in Williamsport, PA. Since the day I could talk I was singing and quickly my mother knew that I had a talent. She quickly got me taking lessons and guitar, piano, dance and involved in musicals. We were constantly going to New York City, competing in competitions, really trying everything to figure out this crazy music business! This all eventually led me to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston. Not too long into my first semester of college, I got a huge opportunity from Sony Nashville and transferred to Belmont university, where I continued to again figure out this crazy career!

2.     Who are some of your musical icons?

There’s soooo many!!! I obviously relate to women more because I could mimic them pretty closely… I grew up obsessed with the divas of the 90s. It did not matter what genre as long as they had a huge voice! So I would listen to Whitney, Shania, Trisha, Faith, Mariah, Celine, Aretha.  Then my guitar teacher had me play the role of Janis Joplin in a show and I became obsessed with big bluesy singers like Bonnie Raitt, Eva Cassidy, Susan Tedeschi… I go through phases of loving so many different types of music…!

3.     How did you get your start in country music?

I had an opportunity with the head of A&R at Sony Nashville from working on a record in NYC. He said in order for him to work with me I would need to move to Nashville, so I did! And from there it just kept going up I started writing with a lot of big hit writers in town and getting some really awesome opportunities.

4.     Where do you see yourself in the next 5 to 10 years in your music career?

I see myself doing well on the radio, touring constantly, being able to take care of my team financially in a big way, and giving back as much as I can! But hopefully still doing what I love to do, which is music.

5.     Is there anything new coming up with your music for 2017?

I’m finishing up in the studio with a lot of new music that I am so very proud of. I’m looking forward to releasing that hopefully sooner than later in a much bigger way than I’ve been able to do independently.

6.     If you could sing a duet with singer or group who would it be and why?

Oh man… that’s so hard to answer! Bonnie Raitt or Stevie Wonder would be so so cool.

7.     What is one accomplishment that you are most proud so far in your music career?

When billboard exclusively premiered my last music video I literally cried laughed then cried again. And even today I still can’t believe that an independent artist like me was given that big of a platform. Also getting to sing the national anthem at Gillette Stadium this year for Thursday night football was also surreal.

8.     If you were not a singer what do you think your career would be?

I have absolutely not a clue. #RealTalk

Most likely I would be working in the music business because that is what my degree is in, but that sounds awful lol!

9.     If you had to give advice to an up and coming artist or group what would you tell them?

Remember to stay positive about who you are as an artist and what you love to do. Don’t let others’ opinions drive you to a dark place or let you give up on what makes you the happiest. You are the master of your destiny don’t let anyone in a suit tell you who you are or where you’re going. Only you determine that! #PREACH hahahaha!

10. What is one of your favorite quotes?

“I refuse to settle for something less than great. And if it takes a lifetime, that’s what I’ll wait.” -Dolly Parton
