Kendal Conrad~ Q & A!!

kc

1.      Hi Kendal, can you tell me a little bit about yourself before you became a country singer?

I was born and raised in Pennsylvania. I was that kid who made honor roll every semester and always had her nose in a book.

2.      How did you decide you wanted to become a country musician?

I always liked to sing and perform, and I played my mom’s Shania Twain CD so often that I practically broke it. But it wasn’t until Taylor Swift came on the scene that I picked up a guitar and started writing songs.

3.      Who are some of your musical icons?

Reba and Taylor Swift are two of my biggest influences, but my first real musical obsessions were Hilary Duff and Whitney Houston.

4.      Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years in your career?

I’d like to be touring, writing, performing. The ultimate goal is to be an artist.

5.      If you were not a singer what do you think your career would be?

I think I’m pretty good at school, so I’ve considered getting my PhD and becoming a college professor. I also love to act, so I wouldn’t mind giving Broadway a shot.

6.      If you could sing a duet with a singer or group who would it be?

Still waiting on a call from Reba…       Haha!

7.      What is one of your favorite songs that you ever recorded?

Country Queen, my last single, was the most fun to record.       Sitting in the studio while the musicians played those INSANE parts was extremely humbling. If you don’t believe me, give it a listen on iTunes or Spotify!

8.      How was it playing with Keith Urban in 2014?

A dream come true. It also gave me a taste of what I could achieve if I worked hard enough.

9.      If you had to give advice to an up and coming musician what would you tell them?

Stay true to yourself – above all other voices, listen to your own.

10.   What is one accomplishment that you are most proud of so far in your career?

The fact that I haven’t given up or wavered in my goals.       I’ve had the same dream since I was 8 years old, and I feel like I’m getting closer every single day.

11. What is one of your favorite quotes?

I have TONS of favorite quotes, but at the moment, my favorite is from Matthew Weiner, the creator of Mad Men:

It took seven years from the time I wrote Mad Men until it finally got on the screen. I lived every day with that script as if it were going to happen tomorrow. That’s the faith you have to have.
