Kimberly Kelly’s “Uglies Recipe”!!!

kimberly-kelly-

I have a fun recipe I like to share in situations like this that people get a kick out of- “uglies.”
You brown some hamburger meat/ground turkey, whatever you prefer, maybe add some onions and spices, etc. and then some honey BBQ sauce.
Get out a can of biscuits, take them apart, and spread each piece in a muffin tin like you would the base of a cupcake.
Place the meat in each biscuit “cup” and then sprinkle cheese on top.
Bake the biscuits the normal time the can suggests, and then ENJOY!

Kimberly Kelly~ Q&A (New Music)!!!

        About:

Kimberly Kelly is a country musician and she was born in Lorena, Texas.  Lorena, Texas is a small town right outside of Waco. Her grandfather Sterling Kelly started a band named Sterling Kelly and the Hearts and was a fixture in the Texas music division. Kelly’s father was a mechanic who played anything from Steve Nicks to Lynyrd Skynyrd in his truck as they drove into town. Her mother is a hairdresser, and she introduced both Kelly and singer/songwriter sister to Patty Loveless and Gary Stewart, as the three of them would racked up many miles in their old Honda hatchback. Also, there are not many memories from Kelly’s childhood that did not involve music.

Kelly’s song “There’s Daddy’s 8 Track,” is sentimental reflection on her dad’s musical taste and inspiration from her formative years. And “Put Some Lipstick On It,” is a powering retaliation anthem for the heartbroken. There also Kelly’s love songs, like “Don’t Blame It On Me,” which is a romantic ballad.

If you would like find out more Kimberly Kelly then check out her website https://www.kimberlykellymusic.com. Her latest EP and all the rest of songs are available to listen on Spotify and ITunes.

Q&A:
1.    Hi Kimberly, how have you grown as country singer/songwriter in the past year?
My confidence in my style and brand of country has grown. I went back “home” so to speak, and realized people still want to hear the more traditional sounding country I make, enough to help me fund a campaign for a project.
2.    How did you come up with the name “Some Things Have A Name” for your new single?
I chose “Some Things Have a Name” to come out first before the rest of my ep “Don’t Blame It on Me,” because the song just hits you in the face honestly. It’d been so long since I’d heard something that country I knew people would feel the same as I did when they heard it the first time. I wanted the song to have it’s moment, and it felt like the perfect introduction to what else would be following a couple weeks later.
3.    What is the background story behind your new song?
I didn’t write “Some Things Have a Name” it was pitched to me, but when I heard it I fell in love with the melody and story of the song. I’ve been in that situation before, and it felt like something I would’ve written myself and how I would’ve delivered the message to “the cheater.” I loved the sass.
4.    Is there something you wish your fans would take away from this song?
Stand up for yourself maybe? You can tell somebody how it is and still have some class while doing it. I mainly just wanted to give people something they could dance to! : )
5.    Was there any other artists or producers that helped to create this song?
The song was written by Bob DiPiero and Troy Johnson. Brett Tyler produced my entire project, and he did a great job of encouraging me to push for the best songs I could find (whether I wrote them or found them). The musicians in the studio I think also had an impact on how the recordings came out. There was a lot of joy and freedom for creativity in the room, and I think it translated in their playing. For this song in particular, when the keys player had the idea to add a “string” section the song really came alive!
6.    Is there anything coming up with your music for the rest of 2018?
I’m going to continue pushing the ep, have plans to record another video for one of the songs, and I am panning on doing a Christmas house concert tour with my friend and fellow artist Erin Enderlin.
7.    Is there anything else you would like to share?
Just want to say thanks to people listening and sharing the music- it means a lot and helps a ton! I also have a video in the running for the CMT 12 pack if they want to vote for it! “Don’t Blame It on Me” haha

Soul Revival Boutique~ “Q&A”!!!

1.    Hello Brooke, can you tell me a little bit about your apparel line? We carry a variety of wholesalers and also have our own vintage upcycled line called Branded by Brooke. It consists of plaids, old band tee’s, leopard, & fringe! I would say that Soul Revival’s style is “Where the Southern Gypsy meets the Western Hippie.” We love boho cowgirl style and mixing it up with some sassy southern charm.

2.    How did you decide on the name “Soul Revival Boutique,” and was there any other names that you were thinking about instead? My husband and I went on a missions trip a year before we opened Soul Revival in 2015. “Soul” is the spirit within us & “Revival” is an awakening! I just thought what a perfect saying for what SO many o f us need. We give back a portion of all sales to various missions and that idea was birthed after our life changing trip to Nicaragua. It was never meant to just be a “boutique”, but bring people closer to God and to serve others too.

3.    Where do you see “Soul Revival Boutique” in the next 5 to 10 years? WHOA – I definitely see us getting a warehouse, possibly doing wholesale orders down the road, and speaking at events (whether they are Christian Conferences or Business Summits)! I would love to eventually have a booth at the NFR & PBR events.

4.    Have any famous people worn any of your items before? We have had Tara Thompson (she is a country artist and one of CMA’s Next Women of Country) and Jenna Michelle (DJ Silver’s Wife) rock our styles. We have been SO honored to work with many of Rodeo’s & Western Fashion elite!

5.    Is there anything new coming up with your company for the rest of 2018? We have pop up shows throughout middle Tennessee in our mobile Airstream boutique and will be in Nashville for Vintage Market Days!

6.    What was the first item you made or sold for “Soul Revival Boutique?” The first item we ever sold was a denim button down!

7.    What advice would you give to an up and coming apparel company? Pray! Work it every day. Never stop learning and trying!

8.    What is one your favorite quotes? I don’t have a favorite quote per say, but I have always thought – Jeremiah 29:11 was my life verse. For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. It’s a great reminder that God is always for us. He’s not going to lead me astray or abandon me. His plans are always greater than mine & to trust Him!

Soul Revival Boutique~ “Bio”!!!

Brooke Carmean is the founder and owner of Soul Revival Boutique. Carmean is a southern girl and was born and raised in Athens, Georgia. She lived in Georgia until she was 25 years old. She move to Oklahoma City and after living there for a whole year, her life was changed in a very good way. She started dating her now husband and he relocated her to Ohio. Carmean started a career as a Registered Nurse, which then led her to a new adventure.

After attending a medical missions trip to Nicaragua with Church of the Nations in 2014, she saw how so many people live in poverty. Carmean was heartbroken over this experience and wanted to make a better impact and try to help these people. When she started brainstorming Soul Revival, she chose to give back a fraction of the proceeds to many missions.

Here is a short summary of how Carmean feels about giving back to people who are in need: “For me it was a done deal. God has given us so much and the least I could do was make a way to honor, share, and glorify His name. Also without y’all, our gorgeous customers, we wouldn’t be able to do that. With every single order, I pray over those who have placed a sale with us. That the Lord can do amazing things in your life and to never take anything for granted. All the glory goes to God and I’m just so thankful we get to give back and make a positive impact in others lives. That is what He longs for us to do – LOVE others and SERVE. Tell the world, y’all. (Mark 16:15). (BC’s own words)

Revival: Means to bring life and also an awakening.

Soul:Is the spirit within us.

Soul Revival: Is what our world so badly needs and we try to make a good impact on others less fortunate than us

Carmean was raised in church and not until she was in her early 20’s, did she really start to understand the love that our Father has for us. She always had a relationship with Christ, since she was a child, but did not really knew the concept of what it meant to be loved by God.

She enjoys bringing her fun and different mix of fashion sense to everyone who visits her boutique. Growing up around horses, rodeo and the western/country lifestyle, and being a offspring of Cherokee Indian heritage, she wanted to offer rare one of kind clothing with a southern chic feel and western flair that you could not find at other stores. Country musician Greg Rider grew up in Waterdown, Ontario. At the age of 21 Rider was involved in a terrible car accident. The car accident made him look at his life a lot different now and it made him want to be a better person.

Music had been a big influence on Rider, but he never did anything to follow it until he was in his 20’s. He thought of himself as a closet singer and only recently learned how to play the guitar. One day, he met a person who asked him what he was doing here. This person was a woman and told Rider he needed to be in Nashville. He listened to this woman advice and made the move to Nashville.

Since moving to Nashville, Rider has put all his time into music and grown significantly as an artist and songwriter. Rider is working on the release of his debut EP. Ashley Scire~ “Q&A”!!!

artworks-000110594212-csa70r-t500x500.jpg

1. Hi Ashley, can you tell me a little bit about yourself before you became a country musician?
Before I became a country musician I did a lot of theater in school plays!  I grew up in New Jersey and spent a lot of time going into the city to see Broadway shows.  I always thought that was going to be the path I would take but then I picked up a guitar and everything changed.  I literally fell in love and decided to start writing my own music.
2. Who are some of your musical icons?
My favorite musical icon is Taylor Swift.  I would not have picked up a guitar if it wasn’t for her.  Her music made me fall in love with country and songwriting.  I also really love Maren Morris.  Her story as an artist, but also as a songwriter is awesome.  The first time I saw her music and heard her play was at Belcourt Taps which is a venue I hang out at all the time.  It seats about 40-50 people.  It was just an amazing experience.
3. How did you become a fan of country music and when did you know you wanted a career in it?
I grew up in a house full of guitars!  My dad plays the guitar and I remember asking him if he thought I could learn how to play the guitar.  He told me to give it a shot and sure enough I was able to pick it up and teach myself.  He was always into Rock and Roll music and I spent a lot of my childhood listening to that genre of music.  I became a fan of country music when I was just starting high school.  I remember listening to Taylor Swift’s first album on the bus ride home and really felt a connection with the songs.  I eventually started listening to all kinds of country music on my bus rides home from school.  I fell in love with the genre and love how every country song tells a story.
4. What is the background story behind your newest single “Drunk Again?”
This song has such a different background story than any other song I have ever written.  Usually when I write a song it is in a writers room and it is planned.  This song just kinda happened.  About two years ago I was having a 4th of July party at my house.  One of my close friends, John Miller, who is also a co-writer on the song showed up in a t-shirt that said “Make American Drunk Again”.  As a songwriter, I am always looking for cool song titles everywhere and I saw that and thought Drunk Again would be such a cool title for a song.  After a few jello shots we started writing the song at the party.  We only wrote the first verse but I really loved the song so Sean Spollen, who is another writer on the song,John and I finished it up a few weeks later.  I knew as we were writing it that it was something special!
5. Is there anything else new coming up with your music for the rest of 2018?
I am super excited to announce I am releasing a 5 song EP called Turn Up The Night at the end of this year.  This is my first time releasing an EP!  I can’t wait for everybody to hear it.
6. Where do you see your music career in the next 5 to 10 years?
In 5 to 10 years I still see myself living in Nashville and working on music.  I absolutely love this city and there is no other place I would rather be.  I have already been blessed with so many opportunities and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.
7. If you could sing a duet with a famous singer or group who would it be and why?
If I could sing a duet with a famous singer I would want to sing a song with Miranda Lambert.  I love how her music is her own and love all her sassy songs!  I really enjoy writing upbeat and fast tempo songs and I feel like a lot of her music is that.
8. What is one of your favorite quotes?
“Fall seven times, Stand up eight”
9. Is there anything else you would like to share?
I am just super thankful for the opportunity to answer some of these questions and share my music.  THANK YOU!

Ashley Scire~ “Artist Spotlight”!!!

40561978_242447333081782_7743177209283988901_n.jpg

Ashley Scire was born in Clinton, New Jersey. Scire grew up in a small town that is not exceptionally known for liking country music. As a kid, Scire wore cowboy boots with sundresses, much to the surprise of her teachers and classmates. Throughout the years she spent many hours singing songs and working on her acting skills, as she took different roles in many school play productions. Through Scire liked acting, music would be her first love.

Scire also learned to play the guitar. Her first guitar was bought by her dad Robert from a yard sale around the corner from their house. She first picked up the guitar at the age of 15 and has not put it down since. She does not use the guitar to just play her favorite singers and groups songs, but also enjoys writing her own songs as well.

As she was finishing high school and becoming an adult, her desire for music only grew. After graduating from high school, Scire decided to attend Lipscomb University, which is located in Nashville, TN. Once in Nashville, she felt right at home. Not only did she embrace her new college life, but she was also was able to discover her musical skills in an area where country music is king. Her talent for playing the guitar, singing and writing her own songs, has unlocked many different doors for Scire as a musician.

She had got the chance to perform for her classmates at Lipscomb and also at Tootsies Orchard Lounge, Rippy’s BBQ, The Puckett’s Grocery, Hotel Indigo, The Listening Room and The Tin Roof. It is at these different venues that she learned how to feel conformable and have fun with an audience. Scire enjoys her hometown and still visits New Jersey to spend time with her family and friends. She likes bringing her music home and playing at the Riverside Café. The Riverside Café was the first place where she performed in Clinton. She also takes part in the “Come Together” Music Festival during the summer in New Jersey.

Scire is determined and devoted to sharing her music with the world. Music will always be a part of her and sharing it with people makes her very happy. Scire’s debut single “Drunk Again” will be out on September 21, 2018 this Friday. She has also been signed to a publishing deal with Dan Hodges Music and is a part of the SMASH: 30 label.
