The Wild Palominos~ Q&A!!!

Hi Guys, can you tell us a little bit about yourselves before you became a band?
Félix, our lead singer, started singing in bars during karaoke nights. Jérémy was
improving his guitar’s skills while finishing his engineering degree. Both then started a
cover band called Four Wheel Drive with some friends. As this project grew, they put a
lot of time and energy in music, and it became an important part of their life.
Olivier had been playing drums for a long time and music was always around as he knew
he wanted to be a musician at a young age. He was in the process of finishing his
bachelor’s degree in drums, pop jazz interpretation when we started the band.
How did you start The Wild Palominos and were there any other names you were
going to be called instead?

Jérémy and Félix had already been playing together for a few years when they decided to
start writing their own songs. They reached out to Olivier early in the process and started
practicing and working on some songs that were already written by Jérémy. Then, we
started doing small venues and soon worked on producing our first album.
We never had another name for the band!
Who are some of your musical icons?
We are big fans of Midland; we love that they bring a lot of vocal harmonies in their
songs. They offer an interesting mix between traditional and new country sounds. Of
course, we have other influences such as Brooks & Dunn, Dwight Yoakam, Eagles, Jon
Pardi and many more.
What is the background story behind your guys’ latest single “Hit the Jukebox?”
The song talks about seduction and how it doesn’t always have to be complicated.
Everything is happening in a bar where people are line dancing while a jukebox is
playing. A guy is sitting at the bar but doesn’t want to look too easy to get. From picking
the right song in the jukebox and staying long enough that night, he describes the recipe
to seduce him.
How would you all describe your music in 3 to 5 words?
Neo-traditional, love, country.
What is your recording process like when making and creating new music?
Usually, Jérémy brings the first draft of the melody and lyrics. Then Félix reviews the
vocal melody to add a bit more punch and to be more at ease with it. Olivier brings a lot
to the production when it comes to enhance the overall sound and composition. We then
put it together with the rest of the band during a practice session to finalize our ideas and
then schedule a recording session.
What are a few of your favorite venues to play live music?
One place we really love to play is Le Verre Bouteille in Montreal. It’s a cool bar with a
lot of shows all year long. We played there twice last year, and each time we had so much
fun, and the crowd was great too.

Of course, we love to play in our hometown, Montmagny. We have a great outdoor stage
called Place Montel and it’s always fun to have a lot of friends and family in the crowd.

What are a few of your favorite quotes?
“Wake up, live your life and sing the melody of your soul.”

  • Amit Ray
“You can close your eyes to the things you don’t want to see, but you can’t close your
heart to the things you don’t want to feel.” – Johnny Depp

Is there anything else you guys would like to share?

release, we have four dates that you can see us in show (Montmagny, Montréal, Québec
and Lac Frontière). Check out our social networks for more information about the album
