Devon Beck~ Q&A!!!

  1. Hello Devon, can you tell us all a little bit about yourself before you became a country musician? Before I became a musician, I was a high school student who was struggling to find their fit in the world. I wasn’t good at sports; orchestra & chorus was NOT for me. but I always loved music, I just didn’t know how to get involved. When I found my fit, singing country stuff, I never looked back.
  2. What made you want a career in country music? I never knew you could have a career in music. Honestly, when I pictured musicians, I pictured me standing on the side of the street, playing guitar & singing, with my guitar case open, asking for money. I had no idea I could go to local venues and play on the weekends. I attended my first open mic and that really opened my eyes. It showed me that there are alternate ways to peruse this career and be able to support myself.
  3. Who are a few of your musical icons?   I wouldn’t say I have famous musical icons. My icons are the local musicians that took the time to help me become the person I am today. They spent so much of their free time giving me tips, what to do, what not to do, and lessons on playing guitar. Without them, I wouldn’t have the knowledge I have today, and I’m so very grateful for that. I hope to pay it forward one day.
  4. What is the background story behind your brand-new single “Mirrors?” My last single was released July of 2020. I had a set-back that following year and lost complete direction of where I was going in the industry. Fast forward to January 2021, I sat down with the co-writer of this song, Sam Grow, and he helped me voice how I was feeling. This song helped me find my new direction and I’m so thrilled people will be able to hear my side of the story.
  5. What is your recording process like when creating and making new music? I like to switch up my style every time I release something new. I don’t like being predicable. If you listen to my songs, they all are just a bit different in their genre, topic, structure, etc. I like to go in and trust the producer, to see what he can come up with and then we just go from there!
  6. How would you describe your music in 3 to 5 words? Full of Emotion.
  7. What are a few of your favorite venues to play at? I’ve played many venues in PA, they are all great and I love the hosts, so I’m not going to pick there!!! But in Nashville, I really enjoy playing at The Local, Nash House Saloon, Tootsies Orchid Lounge Broadway, & Tin Roof Broadway.
  8. Is there anything else coming up with your music in the next few months? Yes! I have another single coming out hopefully this summer!! It’s my favorite song I’ve written so far. I’m so excited for everyone to hear it!
  9. What is one of your favorite quotes? Always be on your A game. You never know who may be in the room or listening.
  10. Is there anything else you would like to share? Thank you very much for your willingness to interview me. It was a pleasure answering your questions. I can’t wait to read the article. Thank you!

Devon Beck~ Artist Spotlight!!!

Devon Beck graduated from high school in 2020 and recently made the move from her hometown in Central Pennsylvania to Nashville to follow her singing/songwriting career.

Since moving into Music City, she has quickly gathered attention from artists, songwriters, and insiders. On June 17, 2021, Beck’s single “Mirrors,” was the “Here For This” Feature of the Day on The Ward Guenther Show (https://music.apple.com/us/station/hot-wax-hot-minute-with-dave-fenley/ra.1572043367) on Apple Music. Country artist Jimmie Allen also featured her on his Instagram for a New Artist Showcase and named her as an “artist to watch,” after the release of her EP, “One Sided Expectations.” Beck was also asked to perform at Pennsylvania 2020 & 2021 York State Fair by Scott Donato, a radio personality with Forever Media’s Froggy 107.7.

With her grown-up lyrical attitude and heartfelt vocal delivery, Beck brings you into her music. Her laidback, unique voice envelopes the likes of Maren Morris and Adele into her individual sound. She smoothly combines country and pop flavors into her work, bringing the center between country twang and soulful pop.

Beck’s debut EP, “One Sided Expectations,” came out on her 18th birthday in July 2020. The four-song recording is a truthful and honest impression of the heartbreak and bumpy relationships Beck has experienced; however, the lyrics are sincere and relatable at any age. The title track duplicate as track one. “One Sided Expectations,” brings the listener down a road of letting go of unhappy expectations. Track two, “Love Me or Get Lost,” will make you move as Beck sings about wanting someone to cherish her. “Forgive Me,” track three, is a piano-driven song that appeals for grace and forgiveness for errors made. The last track, “Devil in Disguise,” showcases a rock sound as Beck names out past betrayals.

One “Sided Expectations,” has been nominated for Album/EP of the Year at the 2nd Central PA Music Awards to be held in July 2021. Beck has also been nominated for Best New Band/Artist.

Beck has played in over 150 shows and continues to tour across Nashville, Tennessee and Central Pennsylvania by covering a broad assortment of everyone’s favorite covers and her own EP. All of Beck’s music is available to listen on Spotify and Apple Music. If you would like to find out more about the talented Devon Beck (https://devonbeckofficial.com).
