TexWestUs~ Q&A!!!

1    Hi Corbin & Chloe, can you tell us a little bit about yourselves before you two became a country music duo?
Chloe
– I was actually working on getting my teaching certification (which I completed!) when I met Corbin! I had auditioned for The Voice, but got cut after the producer rounds. I came home from California, and I ended up taking a Songwriting class over at South Plains College in Levelland, TX, which is where I met Corbin. He helped me with my final project, and we just realized we worked really well together!
Corbin – I grew up playing guitar in church and got connected with several local Texas country bands. After playing for several years, I ended up playing lead guitar for Randall King. I did all of this while attending South Plains College where I met Chloe. After meeting her, I quit Randall’s band so we could pursue our own thing together, and the rest, as they say, is history.

2    How did you come up with the name TexWestus?
We were recording our song West Texas Wind late at night (like 1 AM) in the school’s studio, and in Corbin’s tired deliriousness, it came out the ‘TexWestus wind’. We looked at each other and knew it was our name!

3    How did you guys form your group?
We kind of covered that in the previous questions – we just started working together for a school project and realized we worked really well together.  After deciding we wanted to make it a “thing,” we got a full band together! Time plays a major role in vetting band members. After 4 years of doing this, we finally have a solid group of members who are also our best friends.

4    What is the background story behind your latest single “Lonestar?”
As people tend to do when they’re frustrated, we were venting about our experiences with the Texas Music Scene while we were driving to a gig. In our venting session, Chloe pulled out her phone and started typing the lyrics out to what would become Lonestar. We think of it as our “Girl in a Country Song” to the TMS.

5    What is your recording process like when creating and making new music? Well, normally we have our band record on the project with us…but our newest record coming out this summer was recorded in Nashville using wonderful session players. It was an incredible experience. Normally “pre-production” is a day or two before the recording session, and then depending on your schedule/timeline, we get in the studio 8 AM and record all day long. The instrumentation gets recorded first, and then vocals. Vocals will most likely be recorded the following day, to assure that you are well rested, as it can be tiresome! But it’s all so worth it! This process can be lengthened depending on the length of your project.
6    What are a few of your favorite venues to play at? Buck’s Backyard in Buda, River Stage in San Angelo, Wolf Pen Creek Amphitheater in College Station, Ski Hi Stampede in Monte Vista, the Lonestar Amphitheater in Lubbock, and The Blue Light Live in Lubbock.

7    How would you describe your music in 3 to 5 words? Genuine, Intense, Epic.

8    Is there anything else you guys would like to share? Help us blow up our latest single ‘Lonestar’, and follow us on all social media platforms @texwestus! Visit us at www.TexWestus.com as well. Send us a message, we love connecting with fans.

9    What are a few of your guys favorite quotes
Chloe – “In order to become part of the 1% you have to be willing to do what 99% of people aren’t.”
Corbin – “People who win, do shit. People who lose, talk shit.” (Andy Frisella)

TexWestus~ Artist Spotlight!!!

Starting in Lubbock, Texas, the duo of Corbin Burgett and Chloe Fowler has started to plan their path in the country music world by combining the twang of classical country, rich harmonies, and the guitar-driven power of rock-n-roll.

TexWestus took a chance error and turned it into a future household game. Their different sound has taken them from a simple kickoff in the hallways of South Plains College Music building to sold-out audiences on big stages.

Burgett grew up listening to 80s hair metal, so he gets a lot of his musical influence from bands like Van Halen, Ozzy Osbourne, Journey, White Snake and Ratt. Since being introduced to country music he has fallen in love with country acts like Travis Tritt, Blake Shelton, Trace Adkins, and Jason Aldean. His guitar influences are Steve Vai, Eddie Van Halen, Joe Satriani, Brent Mason and Brad Paisley.

Fowler grew up listening to 90s country and 70s rock. She is mostly influenced by artists like Martina McBride, Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Stevie Nicks, The Eagles and Aerosmith. She then became interested in songwriting after being introduced to a 16-year-old Taylor Swift.

The duo has built an art form of bringing their separate musical loves together to create their sound. Their song list celebrated that sound from memorable ballads, such as “Gone,” to the thick, swampy beats of “Can’t Show Us Down,” and stories of a “love em and leave em woman’ in “Houston,” “You’ve Got a Problem.” Their sound is based on the excitement of their live shows and packed with tunes that produce a “life-changing musical experience for every listener. These experiences have guided to a list of  many musical milestones- which includes playing time on Texas Regional Radio, winners of 95.9 The Ranch’s Ranch Factor in 2019, and joining the stages at famous festivals with Gary Allan, Cody Jinks, Parker McCollum, Koe Wetzel, Shane Smith and the Saints, Roger Creager, Eli Young Band, William Clark Green, The Powell Brothers, Randy Houser, Walker Hayes, Chris Colston, Kalie Shor, Sam Riggs, Dirty River Boys and Josh Abbott Band. They are also sponsored by Coors Banquet and Red Dirt Hat Company.

On February 12, 2021 their latest single “Lonestar,” came out. “Lonestar,” and their other songs are available to listen on Spotify and Apple Music. If you would like to find out more about Texwestus then please check out their website at (https://www.texwestus.com).
