Dakota Danielle (New EP “Q&A”)

Small town musician Danielle Dakota joined the country music world in March with her debut single “One Church.” This relevant, somewhat sentimental dong is self-penned and produced by Mookie & Evan with Michael J. Clouse III (Jeff Buckley, The Rolling Stones’ Nick Hopkins, The Lizzy’s Marco Mendoza).  Artists such as Dolly Parton to Chris Stapleton and Aretha Franklin influenced Danielle, the 25 years old singer/songwriter has brought a new sound to country music.

Danielle was born in Illinois but since has been taking Nashville by storm after finishing a degree in Commercial Songwriting at Middle Tennessee State University. Working hard to make a name for her, Dakota’s unmatched work ethic is shown with her regular appearances at Music City’s popular venues. With just a guitar in one hand and a pen in the other, her goal is to motivate and rebuild her fans through her love for music. On April 19, 2019 Danielle put out her newest EP My Mother’s Daughter” and it is available to listen and download on Spotify.

1.    Hi Dakota, how have you grown as a country artist in 2019?

Hi! I feel like as an artist I have become more real and honest with my songwriting.

2.    How did you come up with the name of your brand new EP “My Mother’s Daughter?”

My mother passed away almost a year ago and I wrote a song on how I felt about life with her being gone. The title ‘My Mother’s Daughter” was a nice way to dedicate my new music to her and tie it in with the song I wrote called “Growing Old.” She was always a big supporter and fan of my music.

3.    What was your process in creating this EP?

Before I went into recording – I have been sitting on most of these songs for awhile. “Growing Old” was the only recent song written. All of the songs on the EP represent times in my life where I have learned or grown as a person.

4.    What is your favorite song off your latest EP?

My favorite song is “Growing Old” because it relates to what I am going through right now.

5.    Is there something you wish your fans would take away from this EP?

I hope my fans will be able to relate to the songs on my EP and genuinely enjoy listening to them

6.    Was there any other artists or producers that helped to create your EP?

Yes so many talented people! My best friend Jessilynn Kidd helped me write two of the songs “Maria” and “Small Town Talk.” My EP was produced by Robbie Artress and I had multiple musicians help me with this project: Jake Curry (electric guitar, banjo), Nathan Thomas (bass), Kirby Newman (drums), Joe Stoehr (acoustic guitar, mandolin), and Marcus Bowling (lap steel).

7.    Is there anything else coming up with your music in 2019?

Yes! I have CD’s of this EP that I am excited to share and 2019 is going to be a year I release a lot of music 🙂

8.    Is there anything else you would like to share?

I am excited to share everything I have been writing this year! 🙂
