Kaylee Rose~ “Q&A”!!!

1. Hi Kaylee, can you tell me a little bit about yourself before you became a country artist? Before I pursued music, I was a dancer and cheerleader. That was my first love and passion. When I was in middle school, my family moved to a different town and that’s when I started teaching myself how to play guitar and switching my focus to music.
2. What is the background story behind your brand new single “Stuff?” One of my close friends went through a break up a couple years ago and she had recently mentioned to me that she still had his belongings at her place and that she couldn’t let them go. That conversation inspired the idea and I brought the concept and the title “Stuff” to one of my cowrites shortly after.
3. Who are some of your musical icons? I’m not exactly sure if I can pinpoint even a few artists because I honestly grew up listening to all types of music. I love everything from Johnny Cash to Beyonce.
4.  How have you grown as a country musician since 2018? I have written hundreds of songs and released a handful of songs. Every release has helped shaped my direction as an artist and where to go next. Everything I went through in 2018 really helped me find my clear path as an artist for 2019. I feel like I know exactly what I want to say and how I want to say it (sing it).
5.    If you could sing a duet with a famous singer or group who would it be and why? That is an insanely hard question! If I HAD to pick one right now, I’d say Ed Sheeran. I love that he has so many different sides and layers to his music, and I feel like we could write/sing a really weird and cool song.
6.    What are a few of your favorite venues or events to play at? I have always loved the Listening Room because its a venue that gives artist a place to try out and showcase originals and the audience is always very receptive there. I’ve met a lot of friends, cowriters and fans playing there.
7.    Is there anything else new coming up with your music in 2019? I have another new single that I am recording. I will have a few different videos and singles coming out this year.
8.    What is one of your favorite quotes? “Comparison is the thief of joy”

Kaylee Rose’s~ “Artist Spotlight”!!!

Kaylee Rose’s music journey is a result of “trial by fire.” On the first day of Rose’s freshman year, her dad picked her up from high school and took her to a local dive bar. Rose took the stage at Ann O’Malley’s in St. Augustine, FL, and she played three cover songs. She was then offered a paid gig right on the spot.

Rose is from Miami, she grew up submersed in different musical styles and cultures which influenced her distinctive brand of country music. As a kid Rose was a hip-hop dancer with goals of performing professionally, Rose’s dad was the one who first saw her musical talent. Her dad bought her first guitar when she was only 11 years old and her family was moving from Miami to St. Augustine around the same time. Rose also mentions that “St. Augustine is a small town and that she had hard time making friends at first so she started pouring her thoughts into lyrics and writing her own music, and after taking a few lessons, she began teaching herself to play guitar.”

From Rose’s first bar show, a star was born. At just 14 years old, Rose started marketing herself and booking shows all over St. Augustine after school and on weekends. Rose never said “no” to an opportunity while still handling both her schoolwork and her positions as a Dance Team Captain and Class President.

After graduating from high school, Rose started to play 4 to 8 hours gigs every day to save up money to move to Nashville. One year later, in 2015, she hit the road for Music City where Rose had two shows booked for the day she arrived. Rose made ends meet by playing every week at Rock Bottom Brewery and The Row while also working at the Johnny Cash Museum’s gift shop. Rose counts both museum owner Bill Miller and Bart Herbison, the Executive Director of the Nashville Songwriters Association (NSAI) as key mentors in her growing music career.

Rose has played over 1,000 live gigs since her first bar gig at 14 years old. She is also not scared to speak her mind. Her style of music is a festivity of life, love and clearness. Her music is also honest with no setbacks and not unlike the music of  her musical icons like Johnny Cash, Michael Jackson, Shania Twain and Beyoncé.

Rose hopes her music is reaching all different type of people of the world and she wants to make a positive impact in people’s lives. Having her tunes sung back to her by a crowd who are moved by it is perhaps the most satisfying thing that she could ever hope for.

On March 15, 2019 Rose latest single “Stuff” came out. “Stuff,” is available to listen and download both on Spotify and iTunes. If you would like to find out more about Kaylee Rose then check out her website at (https://www.iamkayleerose.com).
