Queeva~ Q&A!!!

Can you tell me a little bit about yourself before you became a country musician?  I was born in Chicago but was raised in an Irish family and have always divided my time between both counties. I come from a big Catholic family and have 5 siblings, 3 dogs and tons of cousins back in Ireland who visit often.  I am currently a freshman in high school.

Who are some of your musical icons? Dolly Parton, The Dixie Chicks, Taylor Swift, Kelsea Ballerini, and Maren Morris.

When did you start to listen to country music?  All of my family in Ireland are big Country music fans. I’ve been exposed to Country all my life, especially the Celtic sounds that inspired the original roots of “Appalachian Country.”  When I was little, I gravitated to Country music’s greatest storytellers, especially Dolly Parton who was my favorite and that’s how it all began. In fact, when I was around three years old, I was able to sing complete songs and remember always singing “Coat of Many Colors.”

When did you decide you wanted to make country music your career? As far as I can remember, I always wanted to be a singer. My love for music has always been so strong, and it was always a dream of mine but when I was nine, I started taking my passion for singing more seriously. Around that time, I met Jamie O’Neal and co-wrote the songs on my first project with her and it was then that I learned so much about songwriting.

What is the background story behind your latest song “Stand Out?” I was always shy and although I had a passion for music and loved to sing, I didn’t want to sing in front of people. One day, however, it hit me and I realized that music is such a part of me and what makes me unique and “stand out” and that is where the idea came from and with the hope of encouraging other young people to celebrate who they are and to stand out themselves.

Is there anything new coming up with your music in 2019?  Yes, I am so excited because my new CD is coming out soon and also just filmed a music video for my next single, “How Do You Know,” which will also be featured as the focal track on my new project. The storyline for this song is centered on pet rescue/animal adoption, which is very important to me and I hope it touches a lot of people.

If you could a sing duet with any singer or group who would it be and why? Thomas Rhett!  I am a big fan of his and love the vocal blend he and Maren Morris have on “Craving You.” It’s such a great song!

What is one of your favorite quotes? “Don’t be in such a rush to figure everything out. Embrace the unknown and let your life surprise you.” – Anonymous
