1.    Hi Liv, can you tell me a little bit about yourself before you became a country musician?

I grew up in Ottawa, Ontario, and was a competitive figure skater for 11 years. I had dreams of going to the Olympics before I found music.  I started singing in high school and playing local shows. I learned to play guitar at the age of 16 and songwriting quickly followed.  I started making trips to Nashville to write and record about 6 years ago and moved to Nashville full time in 2015.

2.    When did you start listening to country music and when did you know you wanted a career in it? 

I’ve been a country fan my entire life and some of my earliest memories involve country music.  I remember dancing in the kitchen to Shania Twain songs with my mom.  I started to take performing and writing more seriously towards the end of high school and, from there, the decision to pursue a career as an artist was an easy one.

3.    What is the story behind your brand new single “Boy Crazy?”

I sat down to write with two of my really good friends, Madison Kozak and Raquel Cole. I laid  a beat and they started jamming out on their guitars and the melody for “Boy Crazy” was born.  The lyrics flowed pretty quickly as we talked about what it’s like to essentially fall for someone you’ve never actually met.  We wanted the song to be fun and cheeky to convey the crazy ideas that bounce around in a person’s head when they become infatuated with someone.  We took the silliest ideas we could (like the “Bend-and-snap” from Legally Blonde) and found fun ways to say them and once we were done, we knew we had created something really exciting that would make people dance!

4.    Who are some of your musical icons?

First and foremost, Shania Twain.  I’ve been a Shania fan for as long as I can remember and so many of her songs are timeless.  Even now, her live shows are amazing!  On the more current side, I admire the artistry of Kacey Musgraves and Miranda Lambert, as writers and as singers. Their fearlessness in the writing room to say what they want is something I definitely aspire to.

5.    What are some of your favorite venues or events to play at?

I love playing music festivals and writers’ rounds!  Festivals are always so much fun because festival crowds are always there to have a great time and get a little rowdy and writers’ rounds allow me to play songs I’ve written and sometimes haven’t recorded yet in a more intimate environment and see how listeners react to them.  Two very different sides of the same performing coin and I love both equally.

6.    Is there anything else new coming up with your music in 2019?

I’m writing nonstop and looking to put out more music later this year.  I’m excited to keep playing writers’ rounds, festivals and shows and continuing to connect with fans in person and via social media!

7.    If you could sing a duet with any singer or group who would it be and why?

I would love to sing with Lady Gaga.  She’s the epitome of a well-rounded artist.  She’s bold, brave and exceptionally talented and she always leaves it all on the stage.  

8.    What is one of your favorite quotes?

“Dream big, Work bigger.”  It’s simple but it’s true.  You can have the biggest dreams in the world but if you aren’t willing to be the hardest working person in the room, they’ll never come true.

1.    Hi Christie, can you tell me a little bit about yourself before you became a country musician?

I have been a country musician since I was about 14 years old. 

I was born in England and emigrated to Australia at 6 years old where I started dance lessons and later picked up instruments and singing.

2.    When did you become a fan of country music and when did you know you wanted a career in it?

I started singing at 11 years old and entered eisteddfods with lots of different genres. I didn’t know many country songs. I learnt one song so I could enter the country section and each time that would be the section I would consistently get great feedback for. 

I’d come home and tell my Dad how I went. All of a sudden, my Dad came out with so many country artists and albums I should be listening to, so I got my main influences and love of country from my Dad. 

3.    What is the background story behind your latest single “Hot Hot Kiss?”

I wrote thing song with 3 other Aussies on a very hot summers day in Nashville . It’s a song about that initial attraction and longing for someone.

4.    What was your first thought in your head when you won CMC Female Artist of the Year 2018 by your fans in Australia?

I was just blown away and really didn’t expect it as I was in a section with some big female names. I had to try and come up with a speech on the spot. The presenters were Adam Eckersley and Brett Young. I was also a bit over whelmed to be given the award by Brett Young as I had just told interviewers on the red carpet he was my celebrity crush! lol

5.    What are some of your favorite venues or events to play at?

I love festivals best of all. The vibe and crowd just lift the performance every time.

6.    Who are some of your musical icons?

Keith Urban (who I did a duet with at Deni Ute Muster) Carrie Underwood and Dolly Parton would be my biggest 3.

7.    Is there anything else new coming up with your music in 2019?

I will be doing a second single mid year and a brand new album later this year.

1.    Hello Ashley, can you tell me a little bit about yourself before you became a country musician?

Before I began my journey as a country musician, I was living the life of an All-American girl. I loved to go fishing in the panhandle, mudding in the Georgia clay, and cheering on the sidelines every high school football Friday night. I grew up with a hardworking twin sister named Christie Walls and loving parents and a brother who all supported me to chase my dreams.   

2.    Who are some of your musical icons?

I have a wide variety of musical icons! My icon that mostly reflects my music would be Miranda Lambert. Some other icons I draw inspiration from are Elvis Presley, Adele, Carrie Underwood, The Eagles, and Taylor Swift. I have such a wide variety because I draw from not only the musical sound but also how artists perform.

3.    When did you start listening to country music and when did you know you wanted a career in it?

I was listening to country music before I was even born in my Mom’s belly! I knew I wanted to pursue it when I got a toy guitar and fell in love with making up random songs. Then, in high school I recorded my first song and the whole process really spoke to my soul so that’s when I knew I had to go after this crazy dream!

4.    What is the background story behind your brand new single “Don’t Drink Me Down?’

“Don’t Drink Me Down,” was written about the feelings right after a breakup with someone you love. The main hook Don’t Drink Me Down is asking your ex to not go off and get drunk just to forget about you and your love together. I hope this ballad can help those dealing with a breakup not feel alone.  

5.    What are some of your favorite venues or events to play at?

Whew, this is a hard one!! Honestly, the main thing I look for at a venue is the energy of the crowd so any venues that have that always make me a happy girl.

6.    What is your recording process when making new music?

I start with the basics, guitar and voice. Next, I take a break and come back to the song later to see if anything should be changed/if I hear anything else. After that I usually test the song out in a crowd to see how fans react and if it is a positive reaction I add it to my list of songs to record in Nashville. 

7.    Do you have anything else new coming up with your music in 2019?

Yes… y’all get excited because I have FIVE new songs that I still have to release… plus some surprise music videos/covers along the way. 2019 is going to be a great year! 

8.    What is one of your favorite quotes?

“Empowered Women, Empower Women,” this quote is so important to me because sometimes women are the hardest on other women and this is not OK. We need to support each other and bring each other up instead of down. Love your gal pals!

1.    Hi Montana, can you tell me a little bit about yourself before yourself before you became a country musician?I was born in Grand Rapids, MI. I fell in love with country music at a really young age. I wrote my first song when I was ten or eleven and started playing guitar when I was thirteen. Outside of music though, I love spending time with my family.   

2.    What is the background story behind your latest single “Didn’t Mean To?” Didn’t Mean To is an unexpected love song. I wrote it about this situation where I was completely blindsided by my own feelings.  

3.    Who are some of your musical icons? Taylor Swift, Shania Twain, and Faith Hill. Taylor Swift, in particular, has been a huge inspiration to me. She’s not only an incredible entertainer but also a phenomenal songwriter. She’s so honest in her writing and that has challenged me to do the same.  

4.    How did you become a fan of country music and when did you know you wanted a career in it? I discovered a few of my mom’s Shania Twain, Faith Hill, and Tim McGraw CDs at a very young age. I would come home from school and listen to them over and over again. The thing I love so much about country music is the stories that are present in the songs.  I wrote my first song when I was ten or eleven and started playing guitar when I was thirteen. I’ve always wanted to write songs and make music. The thought of it being my career really scared me though. It wasn’t until college that I knew.   

5.    What are some of your favorite venues or events to play at?Oh goodness, everywhere. I love playing at songwriter rounds here in Nashville. You get to know the other writers and it’s like playing with your friends. It’s a blast. I also love playing festivals. It’s always such a great environment.

 6.    Is there anything new coming up with your music in 2019? Yes. I actually have a single (Mad About You) coming out this Friday. I’m so excited. It’s actually the single off of my upcoming EP I’m releasing later this year. This song is a little bit more uptempo. It’s a fun little love song. I can’t wait for everyone to hear it. 

 7.    How would you describe your music in 3 to 5 words? “Coffeehouse Country” or “Country with a touch of pop” is how I like to describe it.

 1.  Hello Wynn, can you tell me a little bit about yourself before you started your country music career?I grew up in what used to be a small town called Weatherford, TX. I grew up doing what most young boys do in their adolescence: playing sports. I played baseball and football since I can remember and then started rodeoing in high school. So, I was pretty proactive in other facets of everyday life before music really started to play a bigger role in my life. As a freshman in high school, it wasn’t until I joined choir that I started to discover how much I truly loved music. 

2.    How did you start listening to country music and when did you know you wanted a career in it? 

3.    Who are some of your musical icons?I have always listened to country music. Growing up, I was indoctrinated with the good stuff at a young age with some of the artists my parents and grandmother used to listen to like John Denver, Glen Campbell and Jim Reeves just to name a few. As I grew older, I started listening to, of course, Strait, Alan Jackson, Brooks and Dunn and a lot of the 90s era artists. When the movie “Walk The Line” came out, I was fascinated by the way they portrayed that kind of lifestyle and being in the entertainment industry. I began to think about exploring that myself, but it wasn’t going to be acting, it was always music. The summer between my 9th and 10th grade years, my voice changed. I went from being a Tenor to a Bass in choir and could sing pretty low. That’s where one of my biggest influences, aside from those mentioned above, came about and that is a guy by the name of Josh Turner. I loved Josh’s music and still do to this day. That year I decided to go out on a limb and do the talent show. I think a little more than 1,000 kids sat in the auditorium that day and watched me sing “Why Don’t We Just Dance” by Josh Turner. It was at that moment that I was hooked. I started singing around town to what were basically karaoke tracks while I was learning how to play guitar. I went on to college at Weatherford College on a rodeo scholarship and eventually transferred to Texas A&M University. After working throughout college in a 9 to 5 world, by the beginning of my senior year I knew that I wanted to play music for a living. I graduated in December of 2016 and haven’t looked back.  4.    What is the background story behind your latest single “Man What a Woman?”I was invited to a songwriter’s retreat a couple years ago for the first time and met this guy named Roger Brown. We wrote a couple things together that were ok. I had just released my first EP Words Fly and really didn’t know much about what I was doing, but Roger did. Throughout that week, Roger and I became pretty good friends. We kept in touch periodically throughout the year. We ended up at the same retreat again last year and that’s when things really started to mesh between the two of us. I was desperately needing to get back into the studio and get some new music going so I was ready to write. I think I wrote a couple songs earlier that week with some folks, but one night Roger and I sat down and Roger ran an idea past me. He already had the chorus but needed some verses. I think less than an hour later we had “Man What A Woman” finished. That was the first song we completed for the new project that will be released in 2019. 5.    What are a few of your favorite venues or events to play at?
We’ve had the opportunity to play some awesome venues thus far. I’d have to say that playing the National Finals Rodeo in Vegas in 2017 was a highlight for sure. I also had the opportunity to go over the Italy this past summer and plays at the Voghera Country Festival and that was probably the most amazing experience I’ve ever had. Some of our favorite venues in the great state of Texas include Twisted J Live in Stephenville, TX, home to Tarleton State University and of course our home away from home in College Station at a couple different venues, The Tap and Hurricane Harry’s! 

6.    Is there anything else new coming up with your music in 2019?We have 14 new songs on an album that we’re releasing this year. Additionally, we’re getting to play some new markets that we haven’t played before so I am really excited for what 2019 has in store for us. 

7.    What do you like to do in your free time when you are not performing or working on your music?I kind of always tell people that even when I’m not working, I’m working! It’s one of those things that you never really stop thinking about even when you have “time off.” I think that comes with owning your own business and making sure that you’re always making decisions that are going to positively impact your business. When I do have time off, I enjoy going to see my friends play their shows. I also enjoy playing golf with friends or just kicking back and watching movies.
