- Hi Danielle, can you tell me a little bit about yourself before you became a country musician? I was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I have a twin brother that was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome(which means he was born with half of a heart). That’s why we were born there. We are best friends and I’m so blessed to have him by my side always. I grew up in Warsaw, NC, a very small town with a population of 3,000 people. It’s the kind of town that has one stoplight and everyone literally knows everyone. I went to a private school kindergarten through fifth grade. Then I was homeschooled when I was cast in “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” at Madison Square Garden in NYC and at the Wang Theatre in Boston, MA. I graduated high school in 2 calendar years in order to focus 150% on my music career.
- How did you become a fan of country music and when did you know you wanted a career in it? Music has always had such an impact on my life since I was a toddler. I’ve always had an infatuation with music. I would always sing in the car with my family. It was am everyday thing. I remember singing to Dolly Pardon, The Beatles, and the Eagles. When I was eight years old, I was asked to sing at my school event, so I said yes of course. I remember standing on the stage for the first time with no nerves whatsoever. I thought to myself, “Wow, this is my passion. This is what I want to do for the rest of my life. This is me. I’ve found it.”
- Who are some of your musical icons? Taylor Swift has always been such an inspiration to me from the beginning of her career and now. She’s such a wonderful entertainer. I admire how she can write such personal lyrics and pour her heart out. I also love Shania Twain, Carrie Underwood, and Michael Jackson. They’re amazing.
- What is the story behind your newest single “Let It Be You?”I co-wrote the song with Jennifer Denmark and Briana Tyson. We were all just talking about past relationships and how sometimes a friend turns into something more. It was so fun to write something so common, yet exciting and risky. It’s all about taking that dive, all in.
- Where do you see your music career in the next 5 to 10 years? My goal is to touch so many fans globally through my music. I want to be known all around the world. I always want my fans to feel connected to me and my music. I want to receive a Grammy. I want to be just as successful as Taylor Swift.
- If you could sing a duet with a famous singer or group who would it be and why?Taylor Swift for sure. She seems like such a genuine person. She’s an amazing songwriter and performer. I recently went to her Reputation tour and I was blown away…seriously. She’s incredible.
- Is there anything coming up new with your music for the rest of 2018?My 5 song EP is releasing October 3rd! This EP takes you on a ride that’s courageous, fun, and real.
- What is one of your favorite quotes? Michael Jordan has a quote and he states, “If you’re trying to achieve, there will be roadblocks. I’ve had them; everybody has had them. But obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it. He has some other really awesome quotes also.
- Is there anything else you would like to share? I have a booking agent and a band, so we are rehearsing for upcoming shows in Nashville and in other states:) I can’t wait to perform! There’s no other feeling like performing!!! I absolutely love every second of it.
