Bailey James~ “Q&A”!!!

Bailey James (1).jpg

1. Hi Bailey, can you tell me a little bit about yourself before you became a country singer/songwriter?
Well, I like to say I’m a old soul. Like a granny in a 15 year olds body. haha! I’m drawn to things that are vintage and worn and have a story to them. Before I ever got into music, I was just listening to all kinds of different music but usually listen to the old tunes and absorb it. I love learning from the greats.
2.When did you become a country music fan and when did you know you wanted a career in it?
I knew from a young age, at least when I was 5, country music was my favorite. My dad used to sing Johnny Cash to me when I was little, and eventually I knew all the words to “Folsom Prison Blues.” I’ve always had a love for the story and emotion that country music has like no other genre.
3.Who are some of your musical icons?
Pasty Cline is my biggest. She had such a unique way of twisting her voice and doing these little nuances that made her so unique and her music quite beautiful. She’s really my biggest musical icon.
4.What is the story behind your new tune “Kiss Me Goodbye?” Give us some gossip as we know you wrote this tune. It must be about someone 🙂
Funny that you say that. I wrote this song about my ex! I dated someone long distance when I was about 13, which almost never works out, and to make matters even worse he broke up with me. Over text! Anyways, at some point I was back in Texarkana and he had called me and asked if he could see me again, and if he could kiss me again. HECK NO. I told my dad and he came up with the corny line, “If you wanna kiss me, kiss me goodbye” and a song was born. The rest is history and I’m his little devil on the radio now. 😉
5.Is there anything new coming up with your music for the rest of 2018?
Yes! We are trying to find out exactly what song we will be releasing as our next single to country radio. Look out for it in early October 2018.
6.Where do you see your music career in the next 5 to 10 years?
I know this sounds kinda cliche, but I hope in 5-10 years I’m performing in front of crowds that know every word to my songs. That would be a dream.
7.If you could sing a duet with a singer or group who would it be and why?
Chris Stapleton. He’s my favorite current singer on country radio currently. So much soul in his voice!
8.What is one of your favorite quotes?
“Be groovy or leave, man.” Bob Dylan
9.Is there anything else you would like to share with us?
