Bio of Chelsea Dartez (Co-Owner):

Chelsea Dartez moves to Nashville from Texas after getting into the music business program at Belmont University. While attending Belmont, she worked at many popular Nashville’s music companies such as The Grand Ole Opry, Warner Music Group, Nashville Songwriters Association International and Turner & Nichols & Associates.

Dartez started working in Public Relations full-time, as a senior at Belmont and this is where she rapidly found her talent in the music business world. Dartez has many Nashville music contacts and has aptitude to get media opportunities for different type of musicians.  She co-founded C2 Media Relations, with Carly Carmanna. Her clients depend on her to advance their careers in music and find media openings for them on a daily basic.

Q&A:

1.    Hello Chelsea, can you tell me a little bit about yourself before you became entertainment publicist for C2 Media Relations?

CD: Music has always been a big part of my life. After graduating high school in East Texas, I attended Belmont University and majored in Music Business.

2.    How did you get started in PR? What was your first job in the country music industry?

CD: My first internship was at the management company Turner & Nichols & Associates (Rascal Flatts, Easton Corbin). I met a ton of awesome folks there who I still work with today. I then interned in sponsorships at NSAI, marketing at The Grand Ole Opry and in PR at Warner.

3.    What led you to want to work for C2 Media Relations?

CD: I started C2 Media Relations with my business partner Carly Caramanna after working full time in PR for a few years. We both brought strong media and industry contacts to the table so starting our own company was a no-brainer.

4.    Can give me a little bit of background about your job duties for C2 Media Relations?

CD: I handle everything from booking national tv opportunities to securing online features to maintaining our QuickBooks account. I work directly with all clients and wear many hats.

5.    What are 3 things you enjoy about your job?

CD: Securing major media hits for emerging artists.
Securing national tv hits for emerging artists.
Working in tandem with an artists entire team to build and grow an artists brand and profile to the point that they break through.

6.    Is there anything new coming up for C2 Media Relations for the rest of 2018?

CD: We have a few exciting releases coming up for several artists as well as a national tv hit for a client.

7.    What country artists/groups have you been listening a lot lately?

CD: Justin Adams is one of our new clients and his forthcoming EP ‘Horizon’ is incredible! It will be released May 11th. Also JoLivi’s new single “Vinyl”, Smithfield’s “Hey Whiskey” and Dakota Danielle’s new single “One Church.”

8.    What advice would you give to a person who would want to become a entertainment publicist for the country music world?

CD: Intern, intern, intern! Internships create the relationships you will use to land a job.

9.    What is one of your favorite quotes?

CD: Blowing out someone else’s candle won’t make yours shine brighter. Remember that.
