1. Hi Bailey, can you tell me a little bit about yourself, before you became a country singer?
Hi 🙂 So before I became a country singer, my plan was to attend Auburn University and become a Neonatologist. Country music was always my ultimate dream, but I was so young and inexperienced, I really wasn’t sure where to start. My parents, however, were really pushing for me to follow my dreams into the country music industry and were always taking me to open mics, paying for voice lessons, and encouraging me to perform at various events! They’re awesome 🙂
2. How did you become a fan of country music and how did you decide you wanted a career in the country music industry?
I became a fan of country music when I was 3 years old and my parents took me to my first concert to see Toby Keith and Blake Shelton. Since then, I have literally grown up on country music. I sang Carrie Underwood songs at pretty much allll of my school talent shows. When I was 15, I submitted a video to a local radio station in my home town to perform a duet with Keith Urban. Later that week, I recieved a call that I had been selected to perform with Keith Urban at his show in the next town over that weekend. That was the moment that I realized all I ever wanted to do for the rest of my life was make music, write my stories, and then share them with the world.
3. Who are some of your favorite singers/groups?
Gosh that’s really hard! hmmmmmm… well of course Dolly Parton, Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, allll of the greats. I really love and admire Maren Morris, Kelsea Ballerini, and Miranda Lambert. They have so much support for women in country music and that’s definitely what we need right now. I also have a crazy amount of respect for Lauren Alaina, that girl can SANNNNGGGGGG and she’s got the sweetest heart! Keith Urban is a RIDICULOUS guitar player, performer, and just all around awesome person, he is definitely one that is at the top of my list. Chris Stapleton is another one at the top of my list, he is the reason I started writing songs. Uhhhhh… dang this question is harder than I thought it would be!
4. What was it like being an opening act for Keith Urban?
So I actually sang a duet with him and it was UNREAL. It’s been three years and I still can’t belive it actually happened! He is hands down one of the most genuine, down to earth people I have ever met. Not to mention, one of the most talented musicians there is.
5. Is there anything new coming up with your music for the rest of 2017?
So Im currently writing for my EP, which will be out next year, but for the rest of 2017 I am writing writing writing and playing shows every weekend! I’m actually opening for Ashley Mcbryde in Macon this weekend (November 4th) and for Luke Pell in Gadsden December 9th and I am a big fan of both of them so I’m definitely excited about that! I am also making the move to Nashville finally!! 🙂
6. Where do you see yourself in the next 5 to 10 years with your music?
In 5-10 years I hope to be making music and sharing my stories 🙂 Being on the road is one of my favorite parts about the business so I definitely hope to be kickin’ it on the road hahaha 🙂
7. What is one of your favorite quotes?
I have like four Dolly Parton quotes that I like to live by and those are-
“Storms make trees take deeper roots.”
“I refuse to settle for something less than great. And if it takes a life time, then that’s how long I’ll wait.”
“ Find out who you are and do it on purpose.”
“The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.”
Dolly is like my spirit animal… but in human form hahahaha 🙂
8. Is there anything else you would like to share?
Thank you so much for taking the time to chat and featuring me on your blog! I’m honored 🙂
