- Hi Jess, can you tell me a little bit about yourself before you became a country singer? Well to start, I was born and raised in South Florida. Honestly, I don’t remember a time before I was a country singer! I was raised on country music and have always loved it, and I’ve been singing since I was 4. Singing has always been something that I’ve loved doing, especially since my dad is a musician.
- How did you get into country music and how did you know you wanted a career in it? Well I would say it’s more indie-alternative country that I’m trying to break into. Again my parents raised me on country- my whole family listened to country, and my dad really inspired me to sing in front of people, and once I did I never wanted to stop.
- Who are some of your musical icons? I love Miranda Lambert, and recently my inspirations have been the civil wars, Lucie Silvas, Judah and the Lion, and Mumford and Sons
- What is the story behind your new single “Crooked Roots?” It’s basically about this girl who’s new to town. Everyone tells her to stay away from this bad boy but she doesn’t listen and gets “tangled in his crooked roots”
- If you could sing a duet with a famous singer or group who would be and why? Oh my goodness The Civil Wars for sure! Their harmonies are perfect and their lyrics and melodies are amazing.
- Where do you see yourself in the next 5 to 10 years with your music? I definitely want to be touring. I would love to travel across the US, and the world, selling out arenas!
- What is one of your favorite quotes? “But as for you, be strong and don’t give up for your hard work will be rewarded” 2 Chronicles 15:7
- Is there anything else you would like share? I just want to thank everyone for being so supportive on this journey so far and I can’t wait for y’all to see my new stuff!!
