Cameron Hawthorn~ Q & A!!

  1. Hello Cameron, can you tell me a little bit about yourself before you became a musician?

I’ve been a musician from a young age. I started playing piano and singing when I was in elementary school, so music has pretty much been a part of my life since I can remember.

  1. How did you get into country music and how did you know you wanted a career in it?

I grew up on country music. My parents listened to it, my grandparents listened to it, and so when I hear it, it just feels like home to me. I’ve been singing and songwriting for a while now but never thought about doing country music for some reason until recently. It’s in my blood and it’s the music that was just waiting to pour out of me. When something feels right deep down, I believe you have to trust that. And so here I am.

  1. What is the story behind you new single “Road Trip?”

“Road Trip” was the first song I wrote where I really decided to go for it and write something country. I was really wanting to hang out with a certain someone special one day, but our day jobs were preventing us from doing so. Going on a road trip and just getting away seemed like the perfect idea on that particular day. I love road trips – my family used to take them all the time growing up. I wanted to capture that excitement of hitting the road and escaping your everyday routine. It’s a feel good song and an anthem about letting go and looking forward to where the road can take you.

  1. Who are some of your musical icons?

Growing up, I loved Tim McGraw, Lonestar, Brooks & Dunn, Rascal Flatts, George Strait, and Martina McBride (to name a few). As I got a little older, I really became inspired by Dierks Bentley, Keith Urban, Jake Owen, and Taylor Swift. There are so many legendary country artists though who have had an impact on me.

  1. Where do you see yourself in the next 5 to 10 years with your music career?

I see myself at the ACM Awards, I see myself at the Grammy’s. I’m going to be touring all over and people are going to be singing my songs. It’s going to happen! I believe it.

  1. Is there anything new coming up with your music for the rest of 2017?

Yes, a lot! The “Road Trip” music video is coming soon! And new music releases as well this year. Also going to be playing more shows! So stay tuned 🙂

  1. If you could sing a duet with a famous singer or group who would it be and why?

I think I’d have to say Martina McBride. I’ve always been in awe of her voice, and it would be such an honor. And we’re both from Kansas!

  2. What is one accomplishment so far that you are most proud of about your music career?

I’m most proud of the fact that I’ve been doing music independently. It’s hard work and there are days when I’m not sure I can do it all, but I know that my passion, drive, and love for music are the only things that will push me forward. I obviously dream of having a team, but until that day comes, I’m proud that I have been doing so much on my own.

  3. What is one of your favorite quotes?

I’m not sure if this was actually a Walt Disney quote or not, but it’s inspiring nonetheless: “If you can dream it, you can do it.”
