Answers:
1. I decided to name my first EP “We’ve All Got a Song” after the first single that I released off of the album. “We’ve All Got a Song” has always had a deep meaning and meant so much to me ever since I first wrote it, so it just seemed fitting to title it after this song.
2. One of my favorite venues to play at is Cox Capitol Theater in my home state of Georgia, actually in a city not too far from my hometown. Another one of my favorite venues to play is The Listening Room in Nashville. As you can probably tell from the name, it is a venue where people go, specifically, to hear live, original music. Such a cool place!
3. One of the biggest things that I’ve learned from other artists that I’ve opened for is how to really engage your audience and entertain them. Just by sitting back and watching other artists perform, you can really see how much they connect with their audience.
4. I honestly don’t think there was ever one defining moment when I decided that I wanted a career in country music. I think I just grew up listening to it, knew I had a love for music from singing in church, and decided that’s what I want to go for.
5. In the next 5-10 years, I see myself writing, recording, releasing new music, and touring, sort of like I am now, but in a much broader spectrum. To be more specific, performing at the CMA Awards would be nice!
6. A few of my musical icons include Loretta Lynn, Carrie Underwood, and more recently (because I think she’s incredibly talented), Maren Morris.
7. One accomplishment that I am most proud of to happen in my career was getting nominated and taking home the award for Country Female Artist of the Year at the 2014 and 2015 GA Music Awards. To have fans involved in something like this, where they can help to get you nominated as well as vote in awards, it honestly really means so much.
8. One of my favorite quotes of all time is from the Bible: Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” This verse has always given me comfort in my life.
9. The only advice that I would give to up and coming musicians is to stay true to who YOU are. Don’t ever let someone change who you are, your morals, or what you believe in. Stay true to you, keep pushing, and “never let the fear of striking out, keep you from playing the game.”
