Angela Sue Cheslock~ Q & A!!!

  1. Hello Angela Sue, can you tell me a little bit about yourself before you became country singer?

I have wanted to be a country singer, longer back than I remember. So from a young age I was singing at our local fairs and singing contests. I also spent time flying back and forth from California. I grew up in a small town in North West Ohio called Bowling Green. I was in Orchestra, Band, Choir, and I also did cheerleading. After high school I auditioned for American Idol in Milwaukee, WI and managed to make it all the way to the group rounds during Hollywood week. After that I moved to Nashville to continue pursuing this career on a larger scale.

  1. How did you decide you wanted to become a country singer and wanted a career in it?

I’ve always been super shy but my mom convinced me to get up and sing in a karaoke contest when I was 11 and honestly it’s been non-stop ever since then. I sang Christina Aguilera’s, “I Turn to You”, and the rush I got from getting up there, is the rush that still keeps me going to this day.

  1. What is the story behind your song “Bring Out The Bad?”

Bring out My Bad is my first single and I wrote it with my friend Craig Wilson. I had been seeing this guy who was bringing out my bad qualities, but the problem was I kind of liked it. I told that story to Craig and we just took off from there! I was super excited about how the song turned out and how it’s a mix of all my biggest influences, it was no question that this was going to be the song for my single.

  1. Who are some of your musical icons?

My biggest musical influences growing up were Christina Aguilera, Martina McBride, and LeAnn Rimes.

  1. Is there anything new coming up with your music for 2017?

In 2017 I will be releasing an EP, not sure on the exact date yet but if you go over to my website, www.AngelaSueCheslock.com and sign up for my newsletter I will be sending out updates as I have them! I will also be opening up for Colt Ford on March 4th at the Odeon in Cleveland, OH, and that one is going to be a really good time.

  1. Where do you see yourself in the next 5 to 10 years with your music?

In the next 5 years I hope to have been on a couple big tours and well on my way to my own headlining tour. I want to be putting out good music that people enjoy and that really connects with them. In the next 10 years I want to have completed a couple headlining tours and still putting out music that touches people. One thing I hope I never lose in life is my creativity. The creativity is what keeps me, me; alive and optimistic.

  1. If you could do a duet with a singer or group who would it be and why?

Brett Eldridge for sure. He is by far my favorite voice in country music. He could honestly sing anything and it would sound amazing.

  1. What is one accomplishment that you are most proud of about your music career?

I was on American Idol in 2010, and my group sang with Steven Tyler. That was a pretty exciting moment for me.

  1. What are a few of your favorite quotes?

“The only thing standing between you and your goal is the bullshit story you keep telling yourself as to why you can’t achieve it.” Music can change the world because it can change the people.”

  1. If you had to give advice to an up and coming country artist what would you tell them?

Honestly I’m still an up and coming country artist so I would love all the advice I can get! But to the people who are just getting started I will say keep going and don’t let anyone discourage you. there are a TON of people who are absolutely fantastic and even if you’re the best there are people better. It’s scary and intimidating, but make sure you always stand tall and proud of who you are.
