Tenille Arts: Q & A!!!

  1.     Hi Tenille, can you tell me a little about yourself before you became country musician?

I grew up dancing and singing! I started dance when I was 3 years old, and started voice lessons at age 8. I don’t really remember a time before music/performing was my life.

  1.     How did you get into country music and how did you know you wanted a career in music?

I loved singing and being on stage. I tried a few different genres and I always connected more to country music. I grew up in Canada and I was always listening to the Dixie Chicks so I was heavily influenced by their music. At age 10 I learned a classic country song (Blue – LeAnn Rimes) and really enjoyed performing country music. A career in music has always been what I’ve wanted to do!

  1.     Who are some of your musical icons?

My musical icons are Carrie Underwood, the Dixie Chicks, Miranda Lambert, Taylor Swift and Kacey Musgraves. I also love listening to The Beatles, Johnny Cash and Paul Simon.

  1.     What is your favorite off your EP “Tenille Arts?”

I honestly love all of the songs on my EP! I’m a co-writer on all of them so I feel very connected to each song.

  1.     Is there anything new coming up with your music for 2017?

I’m excited to be releasing my debut single, my first music video, and I’m going on a cross-Canada radio tour.

  1.     If you could sing a duet with a famous singer or group who would it be and why?

I would love to do a duet with Carrie Underwood because I think she’s amazing and she would really challenge me!

  1.     What is one accomplishment that you are most proud of so far in your music career?

I’m most proud of my debut EP. It was #1 on the iTunes Canada Top Country Albums chart and even made it into the top 100 on the US Country Albums chart.  I waited a long time to release music and I love how it turned out. I’m enjoying hearing the responses from fans!

  1.     Where do you see yourself in the next 5 to 10 years in your music career?

I see myself accomplishing a lot of things in the next 5-10 years. I’d love to go on a headlining world tour and perform for thousands of people every night.

  1.     If you had to give advice to an up and coming country artist what would you tell them?

I would tell them to trust their gut feelings and work hard. It’s a tough journey but it’s a lot of fun! Make sure they are enjoying the experiences along the way.

  1. What is one of your favorite quotes?

My favorite quote is something I live by and say to myself very often. It’s simply “20 seconds of insane courage”. Anytime I need an extra boost of confidence, I say that to myself and do the things that scare me.
