1. Hello Alexandria, can you give me a brief bio about yourself, before you became a musician?

I was born in a very small town in upstate New York. I was very shy when I was younger and I was always a closet singer. But I had a passion for music as soon as I could speak. When I was about 10, my father took me to see Beauty and the Beast on Broadway and I completely fell in love with it. I wanted to be on that stage performing. Being so young and really feeling that rush of passion, is s feeling you don’t forget. When I was finally old enough to audition for my schools talent show, I did. It was my first time performing or singing in front of anyone. It was a packed auditorium. I’m not sure how I did it to this day, but I ended up winning. I think from that, I really felt a deeper connection to performing. I started auditioning for school and community theatre, and performing anywhere I got the chance. When I was 16, I auditioned for American Idol and was given a golden ticket, which advanced on to the producer rounds. I was sent to New York City and then New Jersey. Ending that journey, I started getting more serious about becoming a recording artist. I started working with producers from all over and was performing in Las Vegas, California and was recording in Denver. I then traveled to Nashville to attend the CMA Awards and festival and I met my writer, Jillian Farrar, who I work with now. I completely fell in love with the country music genre- It felt so genuine and true to me. For years I was trying to figure out my sound and what really got me. It was then where I found it.

2. Who are some of your musical icons?

I’m all about Maren Morris right now. I really dig her style and sound. She’s got that gritty, cool girl kind of feel. I’ve always been a lover of Katy Perry. I think she is so true to her music and to her fans. If you see her in concert, you will know what I mean.

3. Where do you see yourself in the next 5 to 10 years in your music career? Right now I am continuing to grow. I never know what exactly is going to happen but I love every minute of the unknown journey. I am finishing up my EP now, which has a release date of January 2017. A goal of mine is to definitely play some bigger festivals and CMA Fest.

4. What is one accomplishment that you are most proud of so far in your music career?

An accomplishment for me was moving across the Country at a young age. A lot of people don’t have the opportunity to move out of state to pursue a dream and I’m very lucky. But it’s VERY hard. It was difficult leaving my best friends and family, and everything that I knew best and was comfortable with. Once my dad dropped me off in California and flew back to NY, it hit me. I was all-alone in this complete dog-eat-dog world. I was completely out of my comfort zone but something told me to fight for it. Now, a year and a few months later, I’m here looking back at that moment. It’s amazing to see how far you can come. And to look back and see what you fought for and things you have lost and what you have gained. 

5. If you could a duet with another singer or group who would it be and why? I have three. Reba, Shania Twain and Faith Hill. Shania was the first CD I bought as a little girl. And my little sister had Faith Hill. We would trade them and blast them in our bedroom. That would be my little girl dream come true!

6. How did you come up with the idea for your single “Say It Again”? I wrote Say It Again with two other brilliant writers, Jillian Farrar and A. Helms. We wrote that song on Skype, while they were in Nashville and I was back in New York. We were throwing out ideas to each other and I said something and Jillian said, “YES, you can say that again!” We all looked at each other and we were like “Yup, that’s our title! Say It Again!” So we kind of took that and ran with it. 

7. If you had to give advice to an up and coming country artist what would you tell them?

Stay true to yourself. It may sound super cliché but it’s true. When I moved to LA, I had many different people telling me that I should be more of this style, and I should look a certain way and act a certain way. And if I do this then I would get signed and managers would notice me. But it just wasn’t me. I think success comes from always staying true to yourself and always trusting your gut feeling. Know yourself and stay connected with yourself. It will get you further than anything that someone else tries to mold you into.

8. Is there any news that you can share about your music career for the rest of 2016 or 2017?

I just released my newest single “Say It Again” which can be found on iTunes and was recently released on VEVO, which I’m super excited about! As of now, I am constantly in the studio finishing up my EP, which will release in early 2017. 

9. When you are not busy with your music, what do you like to do in your free time?

I’m an outdoorsy person! I love being outside, hiking, camping, jet skiing, discovering new places. I try to travel as much as I can when I have free time. I also ride horses (Hunt and Western). I’ve been riding since I was a little girl, so I’m at the stable a lot- training and I also give trail rides at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center.
